You may be eligible to apply for Associate membership if you have recently completed a degree from a non-affiliated university course and your studies included a substantial data, analytics, AI, or data science element.
Your course does not need to have 'Data Science' in the title, but data, analytics, AI, statistics, business analytics, computing, digital systems, or applied quantitative work should have formed a meaningful part of your studies.
You should have had opportunities to collect, clean, analyse, model, visualise, or interpret data through coursework, projects, dissertations, labs, case studies, or applied assessments.
Eligible graduates should be able to show that they studied not only tools and methods, but also how to interpret results, explain findings, and understand the limits of data-driven decisions.
Your course should have included relevant coverage of data ethics, privacy, governance, regulation, intellectual property, responsible AI, or the social impact of data and analytics.
If your course was not formally affiliated with the IoA, we may ask for supporting evidence such as a transcript, module list, project summary, dissertation title, or course specification to confirm that your studies meet the expected standard.
If you are unsure whether your degree qualifies, you can still apply and our membership team will review your evidence.
