Meet Our IoA Fellows

Dr. Mahdi Seify is a Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader for the MSc in Business Analytics at the University of Northampton, specialising in the integration of artificial intelligence, data analytics, and business strategy.

His research focuses on AI-driven decision-making, predictive analytics, IoT, and system dynamics, with his PhD at the University of Liverpool pioneering an AI-enhanced Balanced Scorecard using deep learning (LSTM) and IoT data to strengthen organisational control and foresight.

With more than 15 years of international experience, Mahdi has led over 100 projects across healthcare, energy, telecommunications, and manufacturing. His career highlights include consultancy for the World Bank on a $200M development programme, fraud detection systems for German healthcare, and ERP and business intelligence transformations for major industrial groups.

At Northampton, Mahdi has mentored postgraduate and doctoral researchers and founded the University’s first AI/IoT and XR Laboratory, leading projects in smart cities, sustainability, energy efficiency, and immersive education technologies. He is recognised for his innovative teaching methods that bridge academic rigour with industry relevance, empowering graduates with both technical expertise and strategic acumen.

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Analytics (FIoA) and the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), and holds leading global certifications in Project Management (PMP, PMI-ACP), Business Analysis (PMI-PBA), Data Analytics (CQRM, INFORMS-CAP candidate), and Information Security (ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Auditor/Implementor). His publications include numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, such as an Elsevier contribution on AI in brain tumour detection (2025).
