Senior Membership (SIoA)

• Cleans complex data sets and joins efficiently
• Systematically approaches exploratory data analysis
• Creates new data features
• Identifies appropriate solutions from a range of options
• Critically evaluates results

• Identifies and applies data controls and synthesises data from different sources
• Identifies erroneous data risks
• Explains known benefits and issues with technical approaches
• Applies appropriate evaluation metrics

• Confidently present orally and in writing
• Embeds visuals in data stories
• Produces work aligned to recognised standards
• Shares lessons learnt with the team

• Identifies data value to own sector
• Identifies or elicits project requirements
• Manages risk in own work and manage expectations
• Critically evaluates own work and learn from experience

Our Senior Members should be able to perform the tasks required at Member level with ease. There are no additional technical requirements for Senior Members, but we would expect to see more in-depth knowledge in some areas of specialisation or leadership and influence.

Our senior members will have consolidated work experience and be able to demonstrate increasing depth of understanding and flexibility in the use of appropriate tools.

Our Senior Members have considerable specialist knowledge of one or more of the following professional roles:

• Data Scientist
• Business Analyst
• Data Engineer
• Data Stewardship

Senior Members also demonstrate their leadership skills through increased responsibility and influence within their organisation and beyond their organisation.
